Fluke commentary tends to focus on issues at the national rather than international level. If I lived in - say - Morocco, I would be considerably more excited about the potential of solar PV. But for the UK, wind power

On-shore wind generation

Although now ubiquitous across the country, a cursory examination of the List of onshore wind farms on Wikipedia reveal on-shore wind farms in the UK were/are:

  • Relatively small developments (single figures to a few dozen wind-turbines)
  • Relatively low capacity (many <10MW; most <100MW)
  • Construction dates in 1990's or 2000's

DTI on-shore wind speed database

This data set is now moved to On-shore wind database
